A very long time coming, actually everything has been in order for more than 6 months, it just takes time to get a court hearing scheduled around here.
So we are now officially Paisley's parents. No going back:) Not that we want to, no way. We were waiting for this day for a longggggg time and thrilled it is done.
The judge had us testify at the table we were at with our lawyer, they asked our name, address, where we worked, etc. Then the biggie------ HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE and their names?
I stumbled on that one, now, no laughing, but I said "Total?" All the ones at home? Or all of them?"
And the judge's eyes got bigger and bigger as I listed names, one after the other, after the other. All I could think was "It's okay sir, we love our big family."
Paisley is the name we chose for our girl, Paisley Ai Chun Joy. She had been using it from Day 1 here, everywhere. So no change there except for insurance company and pharmacy. Ai Chun is her Chinese name and Joy was a middle name given by first family. She did not wish to have the first name they gave her in her new name and we respected that.
Paisley signed on the dotted line, that she wanted US:) I can't tell you what a wonderful feeling that is.
Her adoption was a domestic adoption due to her being adopted overseas by her first family, but due to her age she had to sign in agreement. So technically we have adopted her from the first family and we have gained a daughter legally that grew in our hearts over a year ago.
We took all the girls with us, now don't think there weren't 500 questions between Chloe, Kat and Phoebe.
Starting at the door. WHY did we have to go through a metal detector? (It scared Phoebe because her spacers in her mouth set it off) Who were those "super hero's" (Sheriff's deputies) at the door and what were they there for? How come they didn't have hearings to be adopted? How come they weren't in the picture (judge was busy , we snapped a quick shot). Were they going to be in trouble? Were they going to jail? Was there a jail there? Why did they have to be quiet?
I kid-you-not. Our attorney who has one small quiet child was laughing and not even trying to keep up. I assured her that Phoebe talks from the minute she wakes till she goes to sleep.
Anyway, there it is. Officially our girl. She is quiet, but happy today, smiling and content. And we couldn't be prouder or happier she is one of ours forever and ever.
